Snapshots

Any summer plans? We’re (I’m) trying to figure out where to go on vacation this year and/or our first year anniversary (suggestions welcomed). As for now, I’ll take afternoon assignments on the lake :)

Side note: do you see how ginormous the house is in the second photo? Ridic. I’m on a mission to find the largest home at SML. And then be disgusted and envious at the same time.

Smith Mountain Lake

Second day at my new job and I spent the last couple hours of work on a boat ride at the lake. Not working. With my awesome coworkers. I think I could get used to this :)  More iphone snapshots on flickr.

Ladies’ Weekend

I spent last weekend at Lake Monticello with the lovely ladies of Jeff’s family and it was perfect. Really relaxing, gorgeous scenery, winding roads and delicious home cooked meals. We also visited three different wineries, one of them being Blenheim Vineyards, which is owned by Dave Matthews of The Dave Matthews Band. And being that I used to be a really huge fan, I was tickled to not only be there but also to hear his music on in the background. Definitely one of the nicest vineyards I’ve ever been to with a really lovely sommelier. I of course brought my camera long and compulsively snapped away. More on flickr.

From The Archives

Paris was our second major trip together, and on our way back to the states, Jeff and I had a 12-hour layover in Morocco. The airline set us up in a hotel in Casablanca after an hour of not knowing what was going on when a man greeted us asking if we were who we were while pointing to our names on a sheet of paper. He led us to the front of the customs line, not explaining where we were going, why our names were on a list or really, who he was. In hindsight, it was totally stupid of us to not ask questions and just follow someone we didn’t know in a foreign country who spoke a language I can only describe as beautiful squiggles. But we were young. And infinite.

We giggled ourselves silly behind closed doors in our Moroccan room, spoke about the hookah pipe from Casablanca that Jeff inherited from his grandfather, who we learned loved that city, and marveled at our view of the Atlantic and how different the air felt on our skin. I can’t believe I only gave this image a passing glance 3.5 years ago but outside of our hotel was where this photo was born.

He and Me

Much like everyone else, Jeffrey and I have been on the go for the past few days with absolutely no down time. I actually miss posting to the blog when I can’t but it’s been nice to take a break from the computer for a few days. And since I haven’t had the chance to process any of the photos from our numerous family and friend gatherings yet, I wanted to post a few of us in the car on Christmas Day after not enough sleep and a stomach full of yummy ham biscuits, egg casserole, and pastries (thanks, Aunt Diane!). No one in the North knows what a ham biscuit is. My cousin actually wrote a short story about it. In these photos, we’re on our way to see my family in Lancaster for the weekend. Sheetz gave away free coffee on Christmas Day and as we only stop at Sheetz for pit stops, we were lucky to get some free fuel (caffeine) for ourselves. We love Sheetz. And free coffee.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas surrounded by loved ones like we did!

Jeff took this ridiculously epic-looking photo. I’ve uploaded the rest of my digital shots from our trip onto flickr and now I have a few rolls of film to scan…
